Jane R. Snyder was raised on Long Island, New York, by parents who shared an unquenchable love for all types of music. Jane was exposed to Jazz riffs and operatic arias, memorable Country classics and Gospel hymns, Broadway musicals and multi-cultural folk songs as well as symphonies, Sousa marches, and elegant chamber ensembles.
Child-sized instruments of all kinds—tambourines, maracas, drums, and even a mini grand piano—led her to more serious involvement later on when she mastered the French horn. Playing in the center of many school ensembles—marching band, orchestra, concert band—provided Jane with great melodic instincts and fueled her love for collaboration. If you want to know how she wound up in the brass section, just ask about her unrequited clarinet dream!
A graduate of The ASCAP Foundation Country Songwriting Workshop, Jane was chosen by the late George David Weiss to receive his "President’s Award" from The Songwriters Guild of America for Excellence in the Art and Craft of Songwriting. She has studied songcraft privately and in workshops with skilled writers such as Jason Blume, Bob DiPiero, the late Sheila Davis, Jimmy Webb, Liz Rose, Jon Ims, Sharon Rice, David Zippel, and the late Marvin Hamlisch.
Unbridled creativity infuses everything Jane writes.
